Alarm goes off at 8:45. Reset it....forget to activate new time. Wake up at 10:30 (when I was supposed to leave for work). Shower, call work. They just laugh at me and tell me it's no big deal. I got slagged a bit when I got there but they were just messing around. The Irish don't care much about time constraints. Next, finished getting ready, eat, clean my room a little. My room was truly a tragedy pretty much since I got here.
Head off to work and get there around 1:30. Kids are only a break and I "wake" some of them up by tickling them. We design our costumes and tell them what they need to bring (an extra set of clothes they can leave there). The script has been edited by the other interns and it was time for the kids to leave.
The four of us head out to lunch (a rarity). I wasn't very hungry sense I got up late and ate late. We went to Mannings and I got a Spanish Omelet anyway. It wasn't bad but I added ketchup (Did I mention that Irish brands taste a lot more vinegary than American brands?). Before we left we all got a dessert as well. I got a Meringue Cream thingy. It was ok, but not the best dessert I have ever had.
On our way back we stopped at a charity shop (thrift store) and looked at a few things. I might go back and check to see if they have a dress that I like or maybe some shoes that were really cute. We walked about in there for a long time. They had books, records, and kitchen stuff as well. I wasn't too impressed because what I was interested in wasn't my size. :( On the brighter side, new things come in almost every day.
After we got back I stayed down stairs and ate my meringue because I needed a spoon for it. Jade came down to say hi because everyone upstairs told her I was in the kitchen. We both like giving lots of hugs. WenI headed upstairs and everyone was working on frames. They only worked for about an hour then around 4 a bunch of kids left to work on photography. The few kids that left continued working on frames or mosaics. I finished two that had been started. Boy, that glue is hard to get off. After I finished both I felt quite accomplished.
Work ended about 5 and we all headed out. I rode down with the girls to Dame St. because they were going to grab dinner before their Need to Breath concert. We said our goodbyes and I headed out to O'Connell. Since I've been here I've begun to eat a lot of McDonalds. I always get the same thing. A double cheese burger with no bun and either fries or a carmel sundae, except this time I got a fruit pouch. It had apples and grapes. It was as yummy as always:)
I headed home to drop off some of my stuff and then got changed. I went to the Palace Bar (black rum on ice) because I had been given a list of pubs I needed to go to in Dublin and that was on it. Then met some friends at the Old Storehouse Bar (Prickly Melon & Aqua were my drinks). The four of us was joined by one other person and then we met up with three other girls. It was some one's birthday. We went to the Trinity bar and got vouchers for a free shot with any drink. I got a Cranberrytini and the shot was vodka and grenadine. We all cheers-ed to her birthday. Later We also got a Baby Guinness shot (Kaluha & Baileys) and cheers-ed to her birthday again.
Most everyone wanted to stay out late so me and one other girl left to catch the bus (neither one of us wanted to pay for a taxi that night). We grabbed some McDonalds (second time that day) and were able to catch the #1 bus. It was the bus that got off closest to where we live. We chatted with some girls on the bus who were in the same program as us.
Once I got home I stayed up wwaayyy too late Facebook-ing and watching TV, but it was nice being able to relax after a long week.

Film, Watercolors, and Cornacopia
Thursday, July 5th
I wake up on Natalie's floor (I had missed my bus and stayed with Natalie and Ann). It was actually a pretty good sleep. I got up and got ready for work. Brushed my teeth with my finger, borrow a few other things I needed, and then we headed out to the bus. We got off near city centre and walked the rest of the way. It was about a 20 minute walk. I had to be there because I am supposed to help plan the film camp. Les, the other leader of the camp, was in a meeting, so I didn't have anything to do except work on my blog.
Once the kids got there we started out by watching the video on camera angles again. Then we split into the two groups again to finish the script. One group worked on situations 1-4 (power goes out through before they start telling each other secrets they have kept from one another), and the other group did situations 5-8 (spilling secrets through superheros walking out of building in costume). I'll post the video in a few weeks when it is (hopefully) finished. We finished it!! Well, mostly. I would have to type it up later.
Lunch time! We went with Jade to one of the cafes around where we work. It is blue and closed around 2:30. I got the Irish Breakfast. It was so yummy. It had sausage, a fried egg, beans, and something called white pudding. It probably wasn't actually that good for me. We just chilled for a little while and then when back to relax in the kitchen until all the kids were supposed to get there.
In art today we were doing watercolor. It wasn't just watercolor though, we used crayons first. I drew an eye using blue and green crayons and went over the whole page lightly with varies colors. It was a lot of fun. The kids had a great time. It was amazing some of the pictures the kids came up with. One boy did a zombie that was really cool, and Ann did this beautiful layered design.
After watercolors it was time for Same but Different, but instead we had a going away party for Boxy. He had been coming for years and recently turned 18. The next day he was moving to Canada for the next 6 months. His girlfriend was there and he had not seen her in several months. We chatted, ate jellies, and gave him a card. It was mostly messing but towards the end there was some crying. Everyone cried. I even got emotional and I had only known him for a few weeks.
Ann, Natalie, and I headed out for dinner. We went to a Vegetarian restaurant. For once a restaurant had a listing of what was GLUTEN-FREE. I was shocked and pleased. They even had desserts, beyond ice cream, that I could eat. I just ate a Cesar salad. fruit salad, and a delicious chocolate/raspberry pie thing. Delicious. I had a shoot early the next day, so I headed straight home.
I met up with the girl I was going to Galway with to actually plan our trip that Saturday. We bought our tickets for the bus, pub crawl, and hostel. Then, bed.

MAN EATING CHICKEN
Monday, July 2nd
Today we start all the camps. We start an hour earlier than we normally do, and then work until 7 on Mondays and Wednesadays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we only go until 5pm. Which is really nice. I was the first one here, right before our supervisor got here. We were starting out with the music making camp. I wasn't leading it, but it was tough to make the kids pay attention. We had tot each them about reading music so they can actually write it later on. Each camp is 2 hours. They all lost attention pretty early on. We survived, and I think they actually enjoyed it in the end. Even with all the complaining. They left and we finally got our lunch. We all stayed in and just ate what we brought with us in the kitchen. I was in a need of some fruit so Ann and I walked to a convenience store and got some snacks. I also got ice cream, of course. Here "Smarties" (the type of push pop I got) is a chocolate brand. It is like M&Ms, but there have M&Ms here as well.
The second groups is called "Battle of the Brands." In it the children first make up a company, a logo, and a slogan for crafts they are going to sell. After they make these they are going to make things to sell (painted flower pots, etc). We only had about 5 kids for this camp (though it seems to change every day). One girl in particular worked really hard. She was super creative and adorable. It ended and it was time to start "Same but Different."
No one showed up so we just hung out with one of the girls who used to come to the club. We learned all about the different popular bands in Ireland. We learned about One Direction, Jedward, Westlife, and Cher Lloyd. Some were good, but others were ehh....
Afterwards the three of us girl interns decided to just hang out because I wasn't ready to go home yet (the sun messes me up so much). We found a food place called "Nandos." You can check it out at: http://www.nandosrestaurant.ie/. They serve something called PERi-PERi Chicken. It was the best chicken I had ever had. We had a great talk with our waitress, got free extra fries, and ate the most moist chicken I have ever had. After that I went with Natalie and one of her other friends to the International Bar. We listened to some really good musicians and a poet. The I went home and hung out with some friends for about an hour. Then I went to bed because it was after midnight.
